Seven months on...

Time has flown.
Seven months, some long some lonely, but mostly without major crisis nor incident have passed. I am almost embarrased to continue here. I had seriously considered beginning a brand new blog, however I quite like the name & set up of this one. I lost the urge to write, the Christmas / New Year thing is hard. However I was over this grief months ago, just did not stay focussed enough to this cause. See how we go...
One major incident did happen last month however I am not in a position to discuss it at this point in time. I will share the details at a more appropriate time later.

"Baby" Oreo is now a playful half grown juvenile 9 months of age. He is adored & adorable! Loves to play fetch with his ball & brings it back. Mostly he tries to initate this game in the early pre dawn hours aparently while I sleep, I am quite used to waking up to his ball lying next to my pillow. He has several, but favourites are definately the fury glittery craft ones usually reserved for appliquaying clown noses & the like, not that I am much into craft these days. He also loves shoes, should have been a puppy I think...

Stormboy & I are into our second month of engaged life. An awesome surprise for me. We spent a lovely weekend down the Gold Coast back in May where he proposed on the beach late one afternoon as the sun was setting. We spent the whole week just shopping, eating out & relaxing... the weather was absolutely gorgeous.

O is for Oreo.

It has been one crazy month!

How time flies, I think I have mentioned this before...? the year is all but over.

Stormboy & I have had some amazing experiences lately, life is exciting. 2008 is approaching fast & for the first time in a very long time I am looking forward to the New Year. I wait expectantly to see what surprises are in store, I am confident & satisfied IT WILL BE OUR YEAR! :)

Christmas itself I am neither here nor there concerned with at the moment. We have practically ignored it so far, been way too busy on other projects...I picked up a couple of things the other day for Miss & Master C, but that is it as far as shopping goes. Really I cannot be too bothered!

My mum & sister are coming for a quick visit this weekwend, this will be my Christmas...will be catching up with a couple of other family members too I hope. Maybe a leisurely lunch or sunday brunch will be the go? Waiting to hear back on this.

The kitten I mentioned in a previous post did not end up coming to our house...I held off until the reno's were closer to complete. Hence my new baby "Oreo" is due to arrive next week :) Born on October 2nd, obviously inspiring me to pick of an "O" name, & a sweet one at that!

He really is just as adorable, I am more organised now too. We have been to see him a couple of times, he is gaining about 100grams a week in weight at the moment, little piggy...loves his tucker! I cannot wait to pick him up.

Doodlebug Travelbug!

Nothing to tell really, another week has rolled on by. Poor Stormboy had a bit of a shocker, his aunt & BIL's father both passed away on the same day within about 4 hrs of each other last Wednesday. I will attend the second funeral on Thursday, but not the one for his aunt, as I have nobody to cover for me at work & Mondays are always pretty hectic.

My parents have just returned home today from a holiday touring Victoria. Mum is glad to be back on familiar soil I think, even though it sounds like they had a lovely time.

Dragonslayer & I have lined the bathroom in the house yesterday, re sheeted the walls with gyprock & levelled the concrete floor. We also removed the hand basin & did some prep work to the shower ready for tiling to begin. This is his forte, not mine! & I am ever so grateful for his assistance :)

Farewelled my good friend "Doodlebug" last night at a group dinner in the Valley. We went to a favourite restaurant of mine, the atmosphere has changed somewhat (not as serene & dimly lit as it used to be) but the food is still yummy! Doodlebug is off to Taiwan next weekend to teach English for a year...she knows she has my love & very best wishes going with her. (OX) I am making it a goal to go visit her while she is there... stay tuned for more updates on this. We were blessed also to enjoy a leisurely breakfast together this morning before Stormboy & I headed home. I will miss her smiling face & cheery personality!

Still haven't been to visit Augie again...hope to see him next weekend...got a big one planned see how we go for time.

Augustus Octavius Julius long haired Caesar!

Thanks Firefly for the following info on the meaning of "Augustus"...

Augustus is a Latin name meaning revered & exalted!
August is the German version of Augustus meaning revered & exalted!
Interesting fact: Augustus Caesar, the Roman Emperor's second name was Octavius, He was born in September and he died in August!!
Caesar is a Greek name for long-haired! (is it a long haired kitten!)
Then there is Julius Caesar with Julius being a Greek name meaning "Youthful".

OK, looks like he is set to be named Augustus! This is cool, I am positive he will be revered. Indeed if he were to be residing in a royal palace I would not hesitate to bestow him with a string of names (as seen in the topic header here)...of course in our humble abode Augustus is quite exquisite enough!

Speaking of the humble abode, it now has a freshly painted lounge / dining room & ceilings of white : gleaming white! in the kitchen & walk in robe. Thankyou Stormboy & Dragonslayer :)
I will endeavour to keep the dream alive over the coming weekend.

Birth Announcement!

Here he is, my new baby boy!
Born August 29th 2007 ; a Blue Point Mitted Ragdoll Cat.
Yet to be named...at this moment "Augustus" is the strong favourite, but any other suggestions are more than welcome.
The pic is courtesy of Stormboy... kitty is going to be an early Christmas gift, except I had to know about him so that I could choose him. He is just so adorable...I am SO excited!
I will make no apologies for the fact that he will be one very spoilt "puddy tat"!
We first viewed them a couple of weeks ago, 6 tiny little squirming "maggots" with eyes barely open! I hope to visit him again soon to see how he is growing. The breeder will let us take him home early December. Great timing, we will be in our house by then. This is definitely the only pitter-patter of little feet I feel I want or need to hear at this point in time!

Hi Ho Hi Ho... A Hunting We Did Go!

Busy is how I would describe yesterday. Stormboy & I were in hunter-gatherer mode for our house. By 8.30am we had hit the road to a tile shop about 20mins away (after cleaning the house, as I was up at 6am wide awake of course because it was Saturday & I did not have to be up for work...grr). Dragonslayer is a fan of this tile shop, & I must say I was thoroughly impressed by the service & the prices. Our $23.10 per sq m tiles were a steal, reduced to $9.95! They are a lovely shade, an earthy pinkish / salmon fleck on antique white background - not too femme, bit hard to describe. I also chose a box of the contrast tiles & 4 feature wall tiles along with a 15ltr bucket of glue, 5kg of grout & a packet of spacers. All this in just under an hour & $215. later we considered it mission complete.

Next stop on the way home was breakfast, our favourite bacon & egg muffins with hash brown & orange juice...went down a treat!

Stop 3. The local hardware mega store is becoming like a second home these days. Plasterboard, timber quad, liquid nails, silicone sealant, drop sheets for painting & 2 bathroom wall cabinets purchased. As well I had to have a gander at my favourite section; the miss-tints in the paint isle where I have picked up some absolute bargains. Again it didn't disappoint, I found a litre of mould free, damp area paint for just $13 (should have been $34) & the colour is perfect, no excuse to not complete the bathroom renovation now :)

Stop 4. Off to Stormboys' sister & BIL to borrow their trailer. Thank god they have one, it has saved our butts a few times now. Of course Miss C & Master C were their usual excited selves to see us. It was a nice break to be inside in the cool for a bit, as outside was rapidly heating up by this stage. Stormboy shuffled off quietly to watch a fishing show on TV, this automatically told me we were have an hour off from the hunt : suited me fine! The kids & I had a ball playing.

Stop 5. A delightful work colleague of Stormboy's offered us some left over VJ's & timber off cuts from her house renovation. This was the first time I have met this lady, she is very sweet & has an amazing house! Fantastic to see what an abundant budget can afford, of course she is a few years older than us, been working hard all her life so well & truly deserves it. A quick trip across town to pick up half a trailer load here, extremely grateful for this, the timber is in really good condition.

Stop 6. Back to mega store of all things hardware, drive thru trade section our destination. What an experience this was, we parked in line & waited approximately 20mins for our turn to be ushered through the gate. Only to discover that the 3 cars in front were illegally parked & not waiting for drive thru service at all! In fact 2 were empty & the other contained a bored looking female with seat full reclined obviously waiting for a mere male to return. *Mental note made to check this next time & cease to be so patient! The best bit was that we laughed at this.

Stop 7. Unscheduled visit to a local opportunity shop which is located way too conveniently & with a generous car park out front, on our way home from hardware heaven. I initially went in to suss out what doors they had...but was totally distracted by a couple of pianos. Had we been able to load it up I would have bought one then & there! Anyway back to the topic : front door, yes they had several. Its good to note that lots of Op shops these days seem to have access to goods that are ex display home. As was the case with the door we chose. It is solid timber, heavy & safer than "$200 cheapies" I saw up the road. Plain design with 8 panels of frosted glass featured total cost $29! Yep...twenty-nine dollars...Incredible! I even like the colour but will probably re paint it as it has a couple of scratches. Now I was really excited, I absolutely LOVE finding bargains. I rarely ever pay full price for anything, I find I don't often need to.

I love this quote too:

"The conditions of conquest are always easy. We have but to toil awhile, endure awhile, believe always and never turn back." ~ Marcus Annaeus Seneca.

So with this in mind we are off to Ike@ this afternoon with my darling friend Buttercup & her lovelies to see what else we can acquire by conquest :)

Post Script For My Finite Friend...

It makes sense now! The timing of this is perfect... co-incidentally my stars have predicted a time of discomfort today:

"....., you are going to have to put up with a great deal of uncertainty that some troublemaking stars are infusing into your life. Doubt will take over in your mind and in every aspect of your daily life. Today, even the slightest little problem will seem like a failure to you, the slightest remark like a knife in your back. You won't feel much like talking."

Also I just received an email from another friend who has no idea what has happened, it contains these words :

"People come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime. When you know which one it is, you will know what to do for that person.. When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away. Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done. The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on. "

Here is my answer!
